A Diagnostic Method Based on Deflection Analysis for Monitoring Post-elastic Response of Beams

Abstract A non-destructive diagnostic method based on deflection analysis for monitoring the post-elastic response of beams was developed, and a indicator proposed. The defined as second moment normalised curvature function about mid-span, where computed from function. Elastic reference values were simply supported under uniformly distributed load, three-point, four-point bending. Development progressive loading examined with help finite element analyses. value monotonically decreased increasing deformation provided that maximum bending located between 0.41 L 0.59 , is span beam. In this interval, unique enabled direct stress level in cross-section. validated available experiments beams. For working elastic range, mean error $${2.1}{\%}$$ 2.1 % obtained measured theoretical values. quasi-brittle material stage, decreasing signified development damage accordance experimental results.
